TLA is pleased to announce the successful completion of a comprehensive two-day legal workshop focusing on ‘Indian Criminal Law and Justice System’ and ‘Laws on Crime Against Women and Children’. The workshop was tailored for Tibetan Settlement Officers of North and North-East zones and was held at Imperial Heights, Dharamsala on the 29th-30th of August, 2024.
Key topics covered encompassed fundamental trial procedures, FIR registrations, three recent Indian criminal laws, the POCSO (Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act), Acts and Laws on Women, and documentation-related issues.
The workshop gained participation from 26 officers and TLA extends its gratitude to our supporters: the Tibet Fund, CTA’s Department of Home, NDI, and the Tibetan Press Association. This initiative has facilitated deeper connections with the officers and provided valuable practical insights into the challenges faced within their communities.
The overwhelmingly positive response from the officers has inspired us to commit to fulfilling their request for legal workshops in schools, monasteries, and the general public within the Tibetan settlements as much as possible.
