By | January 8, 2026

From 28 May 2025 to 03 July 2025, Tibetan Legal Association (TLA) successfully organized and conducted a series of extensive awareness workshops on the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act. The workshops were held for students of TCV Chauntra, TCV Suja, Men-Tsee-Khang Tsuglag Peton, STS Mussoorie, and STS Herbertpur, along with teachers of TCV Mussoorie.

The primary objective of the workshops was to create awareness among children and educators about child rights, child protection laws, and legal mechanisms available for the safety and well-being of children. The sessions focused on helping students understand good touch and bad touch, reporting mechanisms, roles of Child Welfare Committees, and the importance of a safe and supportive environment. Teachers were oriented on their legal responsibilities, child-friendly procedures, and early identification of abuse or neglect.

The workshops were conducted in an interactive and child-friendly manner, using real-life examples, case studies, and simple explanations of legal provisions. Each session concluded with an extensive question-and-answer segment, during which students and teachers actively participated, asked questions, and shared concerns. This interactive engagement reflected the strong interest and relevance of the topics discussed.

Overall, the program significantly contributed to strengthening legal awareness, promoting a culture of safety, and empowering both students and teachers with essential knowledge on child protection laws. The project was generously funded by The Tibet Fund, whose support made it possible to reach multiple institutions and ensure meaningful outreach.
